How To Train Your Dragon 3 Movie Release Date: New Movie Set to Come in Two Parts?
Since the start of the sequel's production, writer and director Dean Deblois has been very open about the idea that there will still be a third installment to the 'How to Train Your Dragon' franchise. As early as 2012, he mentioned that there will be a 'How to Train Your Dragon 3' that's been projected for a 2016 release.
The film franchise's second part graced the big screen on June 13. Since then, Deblois has been giving bits and pieces of information regarding the last chapter of the saga, specifically about how the end will eventually come together as it has with the original books.
DeBlois was spotted at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Film Festival on June 14. He was asked about the third film to which he answered, "by meeting Hiccup at this later stage of his life he's now dealing with an organic and universal problem that many of us go through at that stage. But it is the middle chapter heading toward the culmination of Hiccup's final coming of age."
According to DeBlois, he is working on a running outline. He makes sure that there is an all-encompassing thread that binds the three installments altogether.
Composer John Powell, also a key component of the trilogy, implied that the last installation will most likely be split into two parts. He said in an interview with Collider that it is an eye-opener for Deblois and himself.
Head of DreamWorks Animation Jeffrey Katzenberg thinks that making the animation into a quadrilogy makes sense financially, as the 'How to Train Your Dragon' series is one of their biggest hits.
Fans will have to wait quite a bit for the third movie as, 'How to Train Your Dragon 3' is set to be released on June 17, 2016.
