How to Train Your Dragon 3 Release Date 2016? Movie Will Be Split in Two Parts?
DreamWorks Animation has just announced a 12-picture slate that runs through 2016. Hot on the heels of its movie, "How to Train Your Dragon 2' which was just released last June are other animated works including "The Penguins of Madagascar', which will premiere on March 2015, and "Kung Fu Panda 3' which will be released on March 2016.
The list ends with "How to Train Your Dragon 3' which will be shown in movie theaters on June 18, 2016.
The release slate announcement coincides with the news that DreamWorks has struck a distribution deal with 20th Century Fox, who will handle the studio's films after DreamWorks' contract with Paramount Pictures expires at the end of the year.
Among the films mentioned, the "How to Train Your Dragon 3' release date was not a complete shocker as DreamWorks head Jeffrey Katzenberg previously announced that he envisioned the series as a trilogy.
However, fans might be surprised to know that the third film might be split into two, making the trilogy four movies instead, as suggested by "How to Train Your Dragon' composer John Powell.
Powell said that the idea was floated over to director Dean Deblois by Katzenberg, and that it was an "eye opener" for both him and Deblois.
In an interview with Collider, Powell said, "It might be good because he's got a lot of story left to tell, so maybe splitting it into two will work, but I just don't know about that yet. I'm supposing that at the moment, Dean has an idea for the third one and he isn't telling any of us yet."
