How I Met Your Mother Season 9 spoiler alert!

It's been a long run for How I Met Your Mother, but the popular CBS sitcom is finally calling it quits. How I Met Your Mother Season 9, which airs Fall 2013, will be the show's last season.

With only one season to go it's time to wrap up some loose storylines. For example, the HIMYM Season 8 finale revealed Ted's long lost love of his life, the titular mother in waiting. The former Broadway actress, Cristin Miliotihas signed on to play the future Mrs. Mosby in the show's final season.

How I Met Your Mother co-creator Carter Bays also said the Season 9 format will revolve around Barney and Robin's wedding. However, the wedding will only be used as a chronological anchor. Just like previous seasons, the cast will move through time in flashbacks and flashforwards.

"There's a time jump of some sort in every episode of this show, so you can rest assured the premiere will be no different." Bays added, "That being said, this next season in particular will feature some of the most non-linear episodes we've ever done."

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 will also show each individual cast member meeting the mother on their own, leading up to Ted finally meeting Mrs. Ted.

Other possible spoilers for Season 9 could include Barney and Marshall's slap bet. Marshall slapped Barney 3 times in Season 7, which means he still has two left for Season 9. Is Marshall really going to humiliate Barney at his own wedding? Or will some slap treaty resolve the issue?
