'How I Met Your Dad' Spin-off News: TV Show Confirmed As Pipe Dream, Show Will Never Air
Rumors about a 'How I Met Your Dad' spin-off series has become rampant as the popular sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' broadcast its series finale. However, recent reports claim that production of the new series has halted, and will likely remain that way.
After the successful and long-running HIMYM series, fans and producers alike thought that a spin-off series was the way to go. Many believed that the story of 'How I Met Your Dad' would do just as well as the original, and would also receive high viewership.
The HIMYM producers considered the new spin-off, and went as far as setting the gears in motion for its creation. However, due some undisclosed reasons, the show's production was quickly terminated.
To set the record straight, HIMYM show creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas both posted messages on Twitter confirming that 'How I Met Your Dad' will never happen. They made mention that they would have really enjoyed doing a series like that, but it was just not possible.
"I don't know why I keep reading articles about this, but since nobody bothers asking us: We are really, truly not working on HIMYD anymore," Bays wrote.
Thomas responsed to Bays and added support for the claim that HIMYD is a pipe dream, "To second my bro @CarterBays, any article you read about #HIMYD being kept alive is not true. Sadly, that project will not move forward. We loved making #HIMYD and are sad it couldn't move ahead, but sometimes that's how it goes.".
'How I Met Your Mother' debuted September 19, 2005 and ran for nine seasons, a total of 208 episodes.
