House of Cards Season 3 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Netflix Premiere Date Delay as Maryland Politician Pulls a ‘Frank Underwood’
It seems that one Maryland Delegate has taken a hint from the infamous Frank Underwood, of "House of Cards," against none other than the show itself! Threatening to seize property of the show through eminent domain, will his ploy be successful, or will there be an amicable resolution that bypasses any hostility altogether?
"House of Cards" has threatened state legislature with surprising strong-arm tactics to win tax credits for the show's current and coming season, attempting to manipulate the outcome of state legislation by claiming to pack-up and go if the limit of tax-credits for film and television shows were not raised.
Now the local government has responded with some strong-arm tactics of their own, making it clear that they weren't willing to let go of the multi-million dollar investment they made in the show.
Delegate William Frick mad a move before congress to put in play safeguards against a possible exodus by ordering the seizing and appropriation of sets and equipment if the show decided for a setting change.
Frick later was quoted as saying: "I literally thought: 'What is an appropriate Frank Underwood response to a threat like this?' Eminent domain really struck me as the most dramatic response."
Fortunately, it seems unlikely that there will be a stand-off between the two parties, or that the new season of "House of Cards" will be delayed.
According to sources, the Senate of Maryland already voted to raise the tax credit limit to $18.5 million, well above what was needed or, at least, was being asked for by the show. According to a press-release by MRC Studios, if all goes well the show will resume filming in June.
