House of Cards Season 3 Release Date, Latest Rumors: Netflix Premiere Date Delayed Due to Real Life Politics
Widely acclaimed, delightfully addictive, "House of Cards" is the destination for political intrigue, back-stabbing, and hard-edged cynicism for many Netflix viewers.
The show features a slew of characters who will manipulate and do whatever they want in order to achieve their desires in the political system.
Now it seems that "House of Cards" itself, the show, cast, crew and producers, are lobbying for what they want from the actual legislature of Maryland. They hope to gain tax-breaks for their production from the state somewhere in the realm of 15 million, but need the Maryland capital to raise the cap on tax incentives for film and media companies to meet their demands.
In a recent letter to the state, studio MRC, gave an ultimatum to the state legislature:
"We wanted you to be aware that while we had planned to begin filming in early spring, we have decided to push back the start date for filming until June to ensure there has been a positive outcome of the legislation. In the event sufficient incentives do not become available, we will have to break down our stage, sets and offices and set up in another state."
This strong-arm tactic was something you might expect from Frank Underwood, and many in the legislature felt betrayed that their already significant investment in the show might wind up going to the dogs.
"Is it possible that they would just leave after we gave them $31Â million?" said Delegate C. William Frick.
While the media company has provided an impressive 6,000 jobs for the state, it can be argued that most of those have emigrated from other states to work on the political drama.
