House of Cards Season 2 update!

Still no word on the Season 2 release date but...

Netflix went from near bankruptcy to one of the biggest players in original scripted TV dramas. With new releases like Hemlock Grove and a reprise of cult classic Arrested Development, Netflix has cemented itself as a force to be reckoned with.

Much of the streaming network's success is owed to their first original endeavor, House of Cards. The huge [surprising] success of House of Cards encourage Netflix to dive into the market head first. House of Cards Season 1 was so successful, they're already filming Cards Season 2. No Season 2 release date has been confirmed.

Director David Fincher and Netflix are ready to bring all of the sleazy, dark, twisted drama of Season 1 back for Season 2. Again, no Season 2 release date has been confirmed.

"Not that we were that flip or blasé about it, but that's the show we wanted to make, says House of Cards co-creator Beau Willimon says of Season 1's blunt opening scene with Kevin Spacey's character Francis Underwood. "And if you're not down with the dog getting strangled in the first 30 seconds, this isn't the show for you."

House of Cards Season 1 brought in over two million new Netflix subscribers. Netflix is capitalizing on the new TV market. People like full-season releases. Legally or illegally, it's how most Americans watch TV; several episodes at a time.

Willimon has yet to confirm a third season. If House of Cards Season 2 is half as successful as Season 1, Netflix has no choice but to comply.  Stay tuned for updates regarding the House of Cards release date and cast rumors.
