'House of Cards' Season 2: Netflix Adds 2 Million User Thanks to 'House of Cards' / Release Date Unconfirmed
House of Cards fans never fear, Francis Underwood and the rest of the slithery gang be back for a second season. Though no official details have been confirmed, executive producer Beau Willimon has the Twitter world in a tizzy after randomly responding to a couple fan tweets about the Netflix series.
Willimon tweeted one House of Cards fan, "Story-lines for season two are ALREADY mapped out. Now we're outlining individual eps and writing scripts."
Cards actress Constance Zimmer, who plays reporter Janine Skorsky on the David Fincher-producer House of Cards series also leaked a little info via Twitter.
April 12, Zimmer tweeted to Ricky Gervais' "Gareth Keenan" account: "We start shooting Season 2 of #houseofcards in 2 weeks."
Whether these are accidents or modern day PR tactics Netflix hasn't confirmed. Either way Netflix owes a lot to the House of Cards cast and producers. The success of the show added 3 million streaming customer during the business quarter, encouraging the growing company to launch more original programs.
Another Netflix show, Arrested Development will soon be released in the same "all-at-once" format that proved to be so successful for House of Cards, despite many doubters. Netflix will most likely wait until competing dramas like Mad Men and Breaking Bad to end to before releasing House of Cards Season 2.
Earlier this week Amazon opened up for pre-orders of House of Cards Season 1 DVD and Blu-Ray. The first season will be released in stores June 11th 2013.
