'House of Cards' Season 2: Netflix Series Casting Begins In Maryland, Kevin Spacey & Governor O'Malley Get Chummy
Production is currently underway to the popular Netflix series, "House of Cards".
"House of Cards" Season 1 released on Netflix on its Watch Instantly Channel. They released Season 1, the whole season, at one time. This allowed fans of the show to watch episode after episode, with no wait. They could watch how much they wanted, whenever they wanted.
This format was a risk, but it paid off big time and ended up being a major success. The fans of the show also raved about the format of releasing an entire season at once, which has pushed them to release the new season of "Arrested Development" in the same format on Netflix as well.
Production for Season 2 of "House of Cards" is underway in Maryland. According to The Baltimore Sun, close to 1,000 people showed up at the Bel Air Reckord Armory for casting calls on Saturday. Kimberly Skyrme, the local casting director, along with her staff, took headshots and resumes with everyone attending throughout the day. They also took time to do short interviews with each person in line.
Governor Martin O'Malley visited the set and tweeted, "On set at @HouseofCards Season 2 - a great #Maryland film industry / @Netflix production creating 5,700 jobs." So it seems the show has the full support of the state on its side.
Governor Martin O'Malley also tweeted out pictures of meeting up with Kevin Spacey at the Preakness race soon after.
No official release date for "House of Cards" Season 2 has been announced by Netflix, but you can be sure it will be big when it is.
