'Homeland' Season 5 Spoilers: New Trailer Portrays Carrie Still Under CIA's Thumb
Homeland Season 5 sees Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) trying to put her back to the CIA two years down the line and live a normal life with her child and new beau in Berlin, but the second trailer for the Showtime thriller teases that this is not going to be allowed to happen.
The trailer's tagline is a big indication of this: "You can take the girl out of the CIA, but ..."
Carrie's international covert affairs days comes back to haunt her as she tries to move forward as security head for a German philanthropist.
She is kidnapped twice in the trailer itself. She also crosses paths with Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Quinn (Rupert Friend) again.
Saul has a score to settle with Carrie -season 4 ended with him slated to be the CIA's new director, but in the season 5 premiere trailer, Patinkin reveals that "he's been passed over" for the top job and that "Carrie might not have been helpful in the process."
Developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, Homeland is based on the original Israeli series Prisoners of War by Gideon Raff.
It is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios. The drama series was recently nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Drama series.
Executive producers for the fifth season are Gansa, Gordon, Raff, AviNir, Meredith Stiehm, Patrick Harbinson, Chip Johannessen, Ran Telem, Alexander Cary and Lesli LinkaGlatter.
Season 5 of Homeland will air at 9:00 pm ET on Sunday on Showtime.
