Homeland Season 4 Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Claire Danes Pregnancy to Be Central Storyline
Showtime has confirmed that "Homeland," the Emmy Award-winning CIA television drama, will be renewed for a Season 4. Filming for the new season of the show will commence in South Africa in June and it is expected to be premiered sometime in late 2014.
A statement released by Showtime entertainment president David Nevins recently says, "Homeland continues to prove its strength for Showtime, and is one of television's most exciting, provocative and widely-discussed shows. It has grown its audience significantly in each of its three seasons."
According to reports, writers of the show have been working on its story since January and it is expected that "Homeland" Season 4 will be a lot different, as Brody is dead and his family members will only appear in the show for a few episodes.
In the absence of Brody, Carrie is likely to become the main character of the show. According to Claire Danes, who portrays Carrie's character, her pregnancy will be a major factor in Season 4. In addition, Carrie's bipolar disorder will also influence the series.
In a recent interview, Danes said, "I think (the child) is going to be a big theme for her emotionally," adding, "I think she probably escapes into her job. I think she hurls herself at it as a way to avoid some unresolved, very painful feelings to do with Brody."
Talking about the bipolar disorder of Carrie, "Homeland" producer Alex Gansa said, "Carrie's mental condition and her bipolar illness is always part of the story."
He added, "And she will be dealing with that again in season 4."
Meanwhile Danes feels that filming "Homeland" without Damian Lewis (Brody), will be odd.
She said, "I don't think it's really going to occur to me until we start filming again and Damian's not there making fun of me in the makeup trailer."
"I think (Carrie) shelved a lot of feelings. And they will continue to trouble her through the season. ... Realistically, Brody was broken in a way he couldn't be mended. What was his place in society?"
