‘Homeland’ Season 4 Cast Rumors: 3 New Characters Added to Fill After Brody’s Absence

Homeland Season 4 production is set to start later this month as Carrie Mathison retreats to Istanbul together with her soon-to-be-born baby. Despite Congressman Nicholas Brody's death in the third season, Homeland executives say that no other actor will step into role.

Show producer Alex Gansa said that Brody's death will remain in memoriam but additional characters will be casted for recurring roles. Life of Pi's protagonist Suraj Sharma stars as Aayan Ibrahim, a Pakistani medical student that will meet Mathison during the first few episodes of the show, reported Entertainment Weekly.

Showtime executives have also casted Laila Robins (Bored to Death) and Corey Stoll (The Strain) to play series regulars. Robins will be Martha Boyd, the U.S. Ambassador to Islamic Republic of Pakistan while Stoll is Sandy Bachman, the CIA chief station in Islamabad where Mathison will be reassigned, a source from Hollywood Reporter said.

"We knew going into season four that we would need to move the production overseas to tell the story of Carrie returning to the Middle East as chief of station. We are thrilled to have found a new home in Cape Town and look forward to getting season four production off the ground," Gansa said in an official statement.

There is no definite premiere date for Homeland Season 4 but production will soon commence in South Africa. Homeland is a 2012 Peabody Awardee as well as a multiple nominee in the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.
