Hiroshi Yamauchi, The Face of Nintendo Dies at 85 Years old

 

Former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi died this morning of pneumonia at a hospital in Japan.  Yamauchi gave the world the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985 and its first video games, Super Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong.

Hiroshi parted ways from Nintendo in 2002 and refused to take his retirement pension of $9 to $14 million dollars. Hiroshi was ranked the 13th richest man in Japan and has an estimated net worth of around $2.1 billion dollars.

Hiroshi was 85 at the time of his death and left behind a wife and 3 kids.
