Hilary Duff New Song: Singer Releases First Single Off New Album, Hints About Moving On from Split with Mike Comrie?

Hilary Duff has returned to music, seven years after her last album.

In a recent interview, Duff said, "I took a break from music for quite a while, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I'm really proud of the album I've made."

While she didn't reveal the name of her new album which is set to be released this Fall, she did talk about the first single, "Chasing the Sun," due on July 29.

She described the song as a "light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree."

In the song's lyrics, Duff sings about finding happiness, slowing down in life, and remembering that if she has people who love her, then she is "blessed."

Hollywoodlife is reporting that the song implies that the singer is ready to move on from her split from Mike Comrie, who she is still close with. Duff and Comrie have a two-year old son, named Luca.

Duff's last album, "Dignity', was released in 2007 and it debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and went gold. Before that was 2003's multiplatinum album, "Metamorphosis' which topped the charts with hits such as "Come Clean" and "So Yesterday."

The "Lizzie Maguire' star is also ready to jump back into acting as she forges ahead with her new sitcom, "Younger'. The show tells the story of a 40-year old Sutton Foster (Debi Mazar) who decides to go back into the workforce by pretending that she is in her 20's. Duff is playing her co-worker, Kelsey.
