HBO Series News: Network to Off Free Premiere Episodes of ‘Ballers’ and ‘The Brink’ via Facebook
HBO has reached a deal with Facebook to make the premiere episodes of its two latest comedy series, 'Ballers' and 'The Brink,' on the social media site for free. This is a boon for people who have not subscribed to HBO yet, or have missed the premiere episodes of the two comedy series, as they can now watch them on Facebook.
According to IB Times, this is the first time that HBO is offering free access to complete episodes of its originals on any social networking site. Variety reports that HBO's latest move is aimed at the increasing popularity of Facebook in the space of video streaming.
HBO has been endeavoring to reach a wider audience and, consequently, the network made the first episodes of 'Ballers,' starring Dwayne Johnson, and 'The Brink,' which premiered on June 21, available for fans on Facebook for a limited time.
Following this, these two comedy shows will be aired on HBO Go and HBO Now. However, the network has already clarified that it will the premiere episodes of 'Ballers' and 'The Brink' will not be made available on any other digital platform, counting YouTube.
'Ballers,' tells the story of a retired footballer who is working to state a new career as a sports agent. In fact, Johnson, who has recorded a special introduction for his fans, will be posting the premiere episodes on his Facebook page, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
'The Brink,' on the other hand, a dark political comedy set in the war-ravaged Middle East, and is likely to be streamed on the official Facebook page of the series. The episode will be accompanied by an intro recorded by its lead actors.
