'Harry Potter' Halloween Surprise: J.K Rowling Publishes New Short Story October 31
Some time back, J.K Rowling, the author famed for her 'Harry Potter' series which chronicles the adventures of a young wizard, had declared that she will not be penning an eighth epic fantasy novel.
However, she has recently revealed that she will release a new 'Harry Potter' story presenting the witch and the former Hogwarts professor- Dolores Umbrige on Halloween Day, Friday, Oct. 31, 2014.
The story, according to the British author, will comprise her "revealing first-person thoughts" regarding Dolores Umbridge, who appeared for the first time in the fifth 'Harry Potter' novel titled 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', published in 2003.
Actor Imelda Staunton portrayed the character in the film adaptation of the series, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit at the box office.
A statement posted on Pottermore on Friday read, "Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious Potter characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry." The website further stated, "The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge's life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling's revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character."
The last Harry Potter story was released in July 2014, wherein Rowling wrote about a grown-up Harry Potter. The story saw a 33-year-old Potter reuniting with Ron Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom for the Quidditch World Cup final match. The story triggered such a huge volume of traffic that it reportedly resulted in the website crashing.
Currently, Rowling is said to be busy with the screenplay for a Harry Potter spin-off, called 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. This film has been scheduled for a November 2016 release.
