'Hannibal' Season 3 Spoilers: The Significance of Stag’s Death Revealed

While NBC's psychological thriller-horror television series 'Hannibal' gears up for its third season viewers can definitely expect some major changes. The changes refer both to last season's bloody finale, as well the rumors that David Bowie will be joining the cast.

While Goblin King may himself make his way out of the Labyrinth and into the viewers' living rooms, the show is maybe a few faces short for next season. When fans last saw Will Graham and Jack Crawford, they were not doing so well. Some went as far as to think that the two will wind up dead. Well, viewers will have to wait until the premiere of 'Hannibal' Season 3 to really know the answer to that.

In Season 2, Graham (portrayed by Hugh Dancy) showed the viewers how dark and threatening he can be. However, the prolifer's trip down the more meandering tracks of his mind may possibly come to an end.

While Graham bleeds lying on the floor of Hannibal's (Mads Mikkelsen) during "Mizumono," the series' signature imaginary stag joins him. With what appears to be a fortunate turn of events, the stag also seems to be going through its own swan song.

However, the stag's death could swing Graham's fate in either of the two directions.

Speaking with TVLine, Dancy remarked, "You could look at it two ways: Yes, it could be that dark thing that he shared with Hannibal has been ripped out of him and he's free of it. But it could also be that the stag represented the way that that darkness haunted him. And maybe it means going forward; he'll be just as capable of dark acts, just without the guilt."

Elaborating further, he said, "I honestly don't know. I do think it would be interesting to see a lighter Will and to learn a bit more about where he's coming from. But I'm sure Bryan is cooking that all up as we speak."
