Halo 5 Guardians Release Date and Master Chief Collection News, Rumors: Games Feature Updated Graphics Entire Series

The Halo Master Chief Collection has been confirmed as well as the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians which will be released in 2015 on the Xbox One.

The collection will run for $59.99, and contain games one through four in the franchise. Each game will have updated features and graphics and it will be released November 11. This date almost falls on the two year anniversary of Halo 2.

"We did want to use that opportunity to retell his entire legendary story, precisely the way you remember it," said 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross, according to USA Today. "And also from the new perspective as we lead up to Halo 5."

Beside letting gamers relive the series up until the new game, they have also added a playlist of sorts to the games by letting players mix up levels.

"It's a huge amount of navigation for the player if you think about it like a box set," said 343 Industries' Frank O'Connor according to USA Today. "We were worried about that because we knew that people are going to want to sample things and people are going to want to have a fresh experience even though there's a nostalgia element to it."

The studio also said there will be over 100 levels in the multiplayer as it will take from all four games. "It's not just about the past. It's really a deliberate beginning of the foundation for the future," said Ross.

In an interview with The Guardian, Ross talked about the details of bringing Halo 5 to Xbox One.

"When we left him in Halo 4, he's in a really challenging position. He's questioning many things he once firmly believed were true. He's lost his best friend. He's questioning his past and his purpose. He's questioning who he is fighting for," Ross said referring to Master Chief.

She continued, "If you look at Halo 1, 2 and 3 and know the origin story and know the fiction well, Master Chief is our hero, he is you, and he is saving humanity. But it's been at a huge cost to his life and there are things going on - you saw them in [Halo] 4 - that make him question who is calling the shots. Is he doing the right thing? That's very interesting for us to explore," 343 Industries general manager and studio head Ross told the publication.

Ross said that Halo 5 will build on what they learned and used in Halo 4. Using the previous games' technology and understanding, will allow them to create a better game.

"Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a 'journey,' rather than a destination, and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step," Ross continued.

Also on the horizon for Microsoft's beloved franchise is a Halo Live-Action TV series created by Steven Spielberg.
