'Halo 5: Guardians' is set to launch on the Xbox One in 2015, a multiplayer beta will open up in December this year, while a 'Halo' movie and a TV series will air in 2015.
For those that may not know, 'Halo' is a futuristic battle game based on a fictional storyline involving military tactics and strategy.
The first game in the franchise, 'Halo', was released back in 2001, and was a blockbuster hit among gamers worldwide.
Now, the fifth installment of the highly-acclaimed multiplayer first-person shooting game created by game developer 343 industries is one to watch out for.
New features of the game include several new maps exclusively seen in the PC port. 'Halo: Combat Evolved' (the full title of the first game) will also be featured in the upcoming Xbox One game version.
Aside from that, the Fuel Rod Gun and the Flamethrower will also be available in the upcoming game.
Meanwhile, prior to the official launch of the game, 343 Industries will launch a multiplayer beta version of 'Halo 5: Guardians'.
Players who have purchased 'The Master Chief Collection' and 'Halo: Nightfall' can play the beta starting Dec. 29
"We are intentionally putting out the beta a year early so we actually can get fans' feedback to make sure that we are building the multiplayer that they want to play," Ross stated.
The beta testing for 'Halo 5 : Guardians' will be possible until Jan. 18, 2015.
Aside from the game, 'Halo 5' is rumored to be released in a live-action movie directed by 'Battlestar Galactica' director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan and produced by Ridley Scott and David Zucker.
Showtime and Microsoft Xbox Entertainment were rumored to have already discussed the movie and an upcoming TV series which would air on premium cable networks.
'Halo 5: Guardians' is a sci-fi war movie that will reportedly complement the game itself, said 343 Industries general manager Bonnie Ross.
On a side note, the 'Halo 5: Guardians' movie will reportedly be filmed in Belfast's Titanic Quarter.
