The Gungor band is known for stretching the limits of what people generally perceive as worship music. The band is more indie and experimental than they once were. They have received comparisons to "Sufjan Stevens, Arcade Fire and Bon Iver."
In a blog post Gungor wrote several years ago, he spoke about Christian music fans and artists losing their creativity because they box themselves in trying to cater to certain Christian groups. He drove home the point that while it is great to glorify God, God should be praised in the manner with which he deserves, not with a fake song, but one from the heart. He also said that not all music and musicians are like that, but is just speaking from experience on his own realizations.
It is for this very reason Gungor strives to be ahead of the curve with their voice, and reach for an audience of everyone that can get an experience with God.
