'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' writer-director James Gunn recently talked about some of the rumors regarding the upcoming superhero movie based off Marvel Comics. At the same time, he spoke about his plans for the sequel as well as his enthusiasm in writing the screenplay for the film.

Talking to the media at the Variety's Entertainment and Technology Summit, Gunn said, "I spent all day on Aug. 1, the day the first movie was released, writing Guardians," he shared. "I was so excited about it and I was finally able to let go of the last one and begin the second one. I always saw this as a universe, not just as one story."

When asked if the fans will once again see all the five original members of the 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' when the sequel premieres in 2017, Gunn jokingly remarked, "It's going to be a really surprising open," adding, "What happens is all the characters are killed in the first 10 minutes in really horribly brutal fashion."

Gunn promised fans that Groot, who was seen being blown to bits in the original movie, will definitely be back, in addition to the other four main characters. He, however, remained silent when asked about the look of the semi-vocal tree in the next film.

Although the main antagonist Thanos is also a subject of discussion, the writer-director preferred not to disclose the details regarding side characters. Nevertheless, Gunn did mention a little about the antagonist.

"Thanos is not the most important thing in 'Guardians 2,' that's for damn sure," Gunn pointed out, suggesting that Thanos will not be the main issue in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2'.

Fans are also worried about another 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' rumor, concerning Peter Quill's mission to come across his alien father. A report by The Inquistr says that Gunn has planned to diversify from the main storyline in the comic book. While he has confirmed that J'son of Spartax will not be Quill's alien father, he refused to divulge further details.

Meanwhile, Gunn disclosed that many new faces will be seen in the upcoming 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' film.
