'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Movie Release Date: Peter Quill Returns for Sequel July 28, 2017
During the 2014 International San Diego Comic-Con held last month, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' producers gave the film's 2017 sequel an official release date of July 28.
The half-human, half-alien warrior Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), also known as the Star Lord, will once again be seen on the big screen in just a little less than three years following the massive hit of the original 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie which garnered over $222 million in earnings in its first month at the cinemas.
The James Gunn-directed sequel is expected to unravel interesting points in Quill's relationship with his father, as well as shed light on other characters like Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker), who, rumor has it, can be expected to be seen in heart-stopping chase scenes with the Star Lord (Quill). The film franchise's highly anticipated second installment will also be penned by its renowned director, Gunn.
The 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' writer-director previously revealed that the forthcoming sequel had long been in the works, even before the original Guardians movie premiered on August 1.
The intergalactic action movie has proven to be one of the biggest surprise hits for Marvel Studios this year. The upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2', much like the original, is also based on the comic book published in 1969 under the same name. So far, the film's producers have not yet released the official cast list for the highly anticipated sequel.
