Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Release Date for Film Sequel Confirmed 2017

Even before 'Guardians of the Galaxy' hits the big screen, which happens next week, a confirmation has been released about a sequel to the movie. The announcement is so far from rumor that it has a specific and listed release date.

Due to the undeniable popularity surrounding the current film, its production team has already announced a sequel. The confirmation has been made by James Gunn via Twitter, where he admitted that he will be directing and writing the film's sequel.

"Yes, I'm writing and directing the sequel to #GuardiansoftheGalaxy for theaters July 28 2017. But first go see the first one out next week!" James Gunn said in Twitter.

Spoilers for the 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' sequel are not yet possible, being as the story is not yet written, and the first movie is has not been released yet. The first film will release on August 1 in the US, and July 31 in Australia.

On a side note, During last week's San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that Josh Brolin will be the one who will portray the villain Thanos in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film and in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Surely fans who are able to catch a viewing of 'Guardians of the Galaxy' will have a hard time waiting for the sequel come July 28, 2017.
