'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Movie Release Date: Marvel's New Blockbuster Box Office Hit Sequel 2017

Comic giant Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy', which premiered in theaters on the first of August this year, has already announced a release date for its sequel.

In the recent Comic-Con International 2014 held last Saturday, July 26th, Marvel's Hall C presentation for the upcoming film was headed by movie director James Gunn and actor Chris Pratt, who plays the lead role, Peter Quill. The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' team revealed that an upcoming sequel to the highly anticipated movie is set to premiere on July 28, 2017.

The latest Marvel film to debut is based on the comic book of the same name, originally published in 1969. The film features Quill, a half-human, half-alien warrior who became a fugitive when the villain, Ronan the Accuser (played by actor Lee Pace) set off on a vast manhunt operation to eliminate him.

In the movie, the conflict starts when the lead character, Quill, nabbed a mysterious orb that prompted the Accuser's wrath upon him. Quill later on recruited members to a team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy, in an effort to save the world from the Accuser.

Recent reports claim that the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' film has managed to overthrow Matt Damon's Bourne Ultimatum in 2007 as the highest grossing film in August. The Marvel superhero movie had successfully pre-sold tickets projected to reach a whopping total of $70 million before the film's official release.

The first 'Guardian of the Galaxy' movie also features actors Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, 'XXX' stat Vin Diesel, and 'Excess Baggage' star Benicio Del Torro.
