'GTA: San Andreas' Steam Update 2014 Removes Songs, Nullifies Old Saved Files, New User Made Patch Fixes Issues
Rockstar's classic 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' title was recently given an update for its Steam version, which made it incompatible with some old saved files and removed 17 songs from the original soundtrack of the game.
According to Rockstar Nexus, the 17 songs were the same ones which were removed from the mobile version of the game because of issues with its licensing.
Several users also reported that the update has removed several options for screen resolution, including the 1920x1080, which did not function properly during the initial release, but was fixed at a later update.
Meanwhile, not all players are experiencing the issue regarding the old saved files, but those who reported the problem said that the games and information saved prior to the update has been erased from the game, and the user will have to start a new game.
Rockstar said that there is a "user-created patch" which can be used to work around the issue of the broken saved file.
The SilentPatch, made by another user has the ability to restore the software's compatibility to saved files, as well as the ability to fix saving and restoring issues of the game.
Another feature of the Silent Patch is that it not only restores the screen's aspect ratio, it can also add some new resolution options in the game.
However, despite the negative feedback received after the update, some good news brought by the update is that 'GTA: San Andreas' now supports the Xbox 360 controllers and has enhanced Achievement support and draw resistance.
On a side note, next week, November 18, 'Grand Theft Auto V' will be released for PS4 and Xbox One, while the Windows edition of the game is expected to be released in January 2015.
