Group 1 Crew

Five-time Dove Award-winning Christian hip-hop act, Group 1 Crew, lost another one its members making the once duo a solo endeavor.

Singer ?Blanca Callahan announced in late November that she would be stepping down from the crew to pursue of a solo career.

Group 1 Crew, originally began as a trio and consisted of, Manwell Reyes, Blanca Callahan, and Pablo Villatoro. They gained acclaim on the Christian Billiboard charts with their self-titled debut full-length studio album, Group 1 Crew, in February 2007.

Three albums later in 2011, Villatoro parted ways with the group to focus on his new marriage. On the group's website Callahan was honest about the difficulties of the transition.

"One of the main changes personally is balancing being married with going on the road, and professionally, that we went from a trio to a duo," explained Blanca, citing long time collaborator Pablo Villatoro returning to full-time family life.

Days before Callahan's announcement about leaving Group 1 Crew, Villatoro independently released a new song as a solo artist. When Callahan's announcement went viral he showed her his full support taking to social media.

"PUBLIC ANNOUCEMENT!!!! Excited about Blanca Callahan's new season! Check out her video on youtube," posted Villatoro.

On the video message from Callahan she stated that ever since she was a little girl she had always dreamed of the opportunity to truly share her heart and voice with the world and now that opportunity is here. She expressed her love for both Villatoro and Reyes and the crew's experiences together. The singer stated that Reyes is super passionate about Group 1 Crew and will continue to drive the vision.

Reyes the remaining original member of Group 1 Crew has  taken to Twitter to address the fans that are wondering if the Crew is now in fact 1.

"?Why disappointed man? U can't control life but u can love the beauty of Gods will. This is so him brotha! ?#happy .Ya man already got a new singer :-) she'll be missed for sure but God is still rockin G1C baby!!! It's gonna be a great year" he Tweeted.
