As 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 is gearing up toward its air date, fans are scouring the Internet for news about the upcoming season. Recently, Shonda Rhimes, the show runner, has stepped forward and provided eager fans with insight into the character Meredith, played by Ellen Pompeo.

The show's tenth season closed with words from Dr. Cristina Yang to Meredith Grey, she said, "He is very dreamy, but he is not the sun - you are."

Viewers can expect to see the impact that these words will have on Meredith in the upcoming season. She will be seen dealing with various issues already underway in her life. She will deal with her husband's career move, the loss of Christina (her best friend), and have to deal with the arrival of Maggie (her half-sister).

Rhimes had this to say about Meredith come Season 11 of 'Grey's Anatomy', "It's really a Meredith-centric season. There's a lot of growth. She's lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else. She's got all these things going on. Maybe that's the theme, maybe its independence. But for me right now, it feels like its Meredith. I'm feeling her more acutely because she's lost her person."

Rumors about an appearance by Catrina Scorsone have also emerged, saying that she will join the cast as Amelia Shepard. Additionally, reports claim that Maggie Pierce will be one of the new doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital come Season 11.

The next installment of 'Grey's Anatomy' is set to premiere on September 25, 2014, Thursday night on ABC.
