After nearly a decade of success, ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' is once again ready for another fruitful season. American broadcasting giant, ABC, recently announced that 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, September 25th.

Following the exit of one of the main characters, Cristina Young (played by Sandra Oh), 'Grey's Anatomy' show runner Shonda Rhimes revealed that the upcoming season will focus mainly on Ellen Pompeo's character, Meredith Grey.

Grey will be facing a handful of challenges in the new season, including challenges in her marriage to neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepherd, played by actor Patrick Dempsey.

Also central to the show's upcoming season is Meredith's mother's lovechild with chief surgeon Dr. Richard Webber. The series will unravel how her fate is different from Dr. Lexie Grey (played by Chyler Leigh), who is Meredith's other half-sister. On a side note, Dr. Ellis Grey's daughter with Dr. Webber is named Maggie (Kelly McCreary), who will be making an appearance.

One of the main characters, Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez), will also be facing challenges of her own in Season 11. Callie and her partner, Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) will find themselves in uncertainty while on a quest to find out if surrogacy will be the unerring approach in securing a child of their own.

Although the famous medical drama series has been around for nearly ten years, the show's producers reveal no signs of the long-running hit show's closing plans. Speculation, however, that the series' 11th season will be its last has become more pressing ever since it was revealed that the majority of the 'Grey's Anatomy' cast had only signed up for a 2-year contract.
