'Grand Theft Auto' Movie Rumors: Rockstar In Talks For Film Adaptation, Weighing Up the Pros & Cons

'Grand Theft Auto', which has been a monumental videogame franchise since the late '90s, is rumored to be hitting the big screen in a film adaptation of the series. Allegedly, Take Two Interactive is seriously considering bringing the game to life at the cinemas.

Take-Two Interactive President Karl Slatoff stated in a recent interview that they are taking into consideration both the pros and the cons of transposing the game onto the big screen. Slatoff explained that at this point, they believe that if by any chance the 'Grand Theft Auto' movie fails, it is not likely to ruin the reputation of the game franchise.

GTA game publisher Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser seemed inclined towards Slatoff's reasoning, adding that if they were to make a movie out of the massively successful video game, they intend to do it themselves with the help of the best possible talent that would work with them. Houser explains that if by any means the movie falls short of expectation, they would at least have failed on their own terms.

In related news, both Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have dismissed actor Lindsay Lohan's claim that the character Lacey Jonas in 'Grand Theft Auto V' was based on her. The 'Mean Girls' star filed charges against the GTA companies earlier in July for allegedly using her voice, image, and style in the 2013 Rockstar game.

The game producers consistently denied Lohan's allegations, claiming the actress's charges were "filed for publicity purposes," and are requesting acquittal.
