Grand Theft Auto 5's iFruit App Released on PS Vita; GTA 5 PC Date Rumored
Grand Theft Auto 5's iFruit app launched for the PlayStation Vita yesterday after months on smartphones and tablets.
The game was released as a companion app for GTA 5 in September on iOS devices. Now, aside from the handheld, iFruit is also on Android and Windows phones.
iFruit, allows gamers to customize their vehicles on the go, and then place the car in the player's garage in GTA 5. The second part of the app is a "gangster version" of a Tamagotchi, where players help raise a ferocious pooch to be had as a pet in the game.
"Everybody's had some work done in Los Santos, so don't let your ride be the exception to the rule," the app's description reads. "How would we survive without apps? Apps can transform your mobile device into essential tools like a harmonica, disco ball or convincing moustache. Somewhere out there is the perfect storm of touchscreen technology to fix everything that's wrong with your life. And maybe all you're missing is the iFruit app. Maybe not. At least you'll have something to keep you entertained while your significant other prattles on endlessly about their day."
In other news for the game, GTA 5 PC's potential release date has been rumored for two possible launches with some sources suggesting a summer debut, and others hinting at a September drop.
Numerous European publications have began listing the game on their sites, with some going as far as taking pre-orders. Some of these sites are even suggesting a release to the Xbox One and PS4 as well, according to IBTimes .
Czech retailer SuperGamer.cz, claim the game is coming on June 13. However, according to some sources the information is a bit suspicious because the platform listed for the game is for "Windows Live," which is not a system currently available.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also responded to talk on whether the game will head to other gaming platforms, most notably the PC, where rumors have been floating everywhere.
"If that is where consumers are, absolutely [we'll release our game on that]. But we wouldn't drive them there, we would just be there if they are there. That is why we have a companion app for our basketball title, NBA 2K Everywhere. It is wherever consumers want to be," he told MCV.
So as gamers have been accustomed to, the developers behind the wildly successful game have remained silent on the PC front.
