Three lucky people were able to snatch up some pretty expensive artwork by the world-renowned graffiti artist "Banksy" over the weekend in New York City. The stunt was a one time thing for Banksy, which entailed a street vendor and a whole stall full of paintings that were worth an average of $30 a piece. The artwork was not advertised as Banksy's original art so there was no media coverage of the event. The only evidence that these pieces were authentic was a from a post on Banksy's website saying, "Yesterday I set up a stall in the park selling 100% authentic original signed Banksy canvases. For $60 each. A lady buys two small canvases for her children, but only after negotiation a 50% discount. Please not this was a one-off. The stall will not be there again."

This stunt comes in the middle of Banksy's month long residency in New York City, in which he promises to deliver one new piece of artwork per day in the city limits. Some of the art that he has already done in New York is a green truck filled with squeaking teddy bears and a black and white depiction of war horses wearing goggles.

Banksy wrote an email to the Village Voice in New York that said, "New York calls to graffiti writers like a dirty old lighthouse. We all want to prove ourselves here."
