Only a few weeks remain for 'Gotham' to return to FOX for its second season and before the Season 2 premiere of the hit original Batman story, spoilers, speculations and synopses are flooding the Internet. Some of them suggest that it will be difficult for Detective James Gordon to win against the underworld criminals of Gotham City.

Latin Post reports veteran villain Penguin has shown his determination to commit sins, while newcomers Theo and Tabitha Galavan will implement their new plans to turn Gotham City into a corruption hub.

A recently released synopsis of 'Gotham' Season 2 reveals that Penguin will rattle the cages of the Gotham City Police Department and Gordon will seek to help him. It also suggests that young Bruce Wayne will explore his father's office, while the Galavans will make friends with a group of treacherous inmates from Arkham in the all-new episode titled 'Rise of the Villains: Damned If You Do ...'

'Gotham' Season 2 is set to premiere Monday, Sept. 21, and fans can all expect the manifestation of the Batman persona, the rise of the Joker, the violent evolution of Barbara Kean, the appearance of Mr. Freeze as well as the many rogue characters who will be introduced during the sophomore season of the series. In addition, the new Big Bads, the Galavans, have also positioned themselves to command the criminals of the city.

Some reports suggest that Jerome, who was seen in the first season, is necessarily not the Joker - rather it is being said that, eventually, the show will present a number of characters that could sooner or later develop into the iconic, confident villain. Moreover, the future Riddler, currently known as Edward Nygma, could find an unsteady romance during 'Gotham' Season 2, which show runners will look at during the second episode, titled 'Knock, Knock.'

A recently released synopsis of 'Knock, Knock' states, "On the heels of his reinstatement, Gordon is thrust onto the high-profile case tracking the deadly inmate escape from Arkham Asylum. Meanwhile, Galavan plans his next move, while Bruce asks for help from his father's old friend to unlock the secrets in his office, and Nygma asks out Kristin Kringle (guest-star Chelsea Spack) on a date."

'Gotham' Season 2 premieres on FOX on Monday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. EDT.
