‘Gotham’ Release Date, Spoilers: Batman Villians In Their Early Years
'Gotham', a new series by show runner Bruno Heller, known for his 'The Mentalist' is about to make its way onto TV screens. As a result, multiple spoilers and mass speculation about the show flood Internet media outlets.
The Batman-centered series will focus on Bruce Wayne's hometown many years before he takes up his iconic identity. While Wayne is present in this series, the spotlight is mostly on Detective James Gordon, as played by Ben McKenzie (The OC).
The story begins as Detective Gordon and his partner Harvey Bullock, are called upon to handle the biggest case of their careers when Thomas and Martha Wayne are gunned down in front of their young son, Bruce. Gordon goes out of his way to protect and comfort Bruce, and promises him that he will find the man who killed his parents. The promise drives the entire pilot forward and it keeps Bruce in the story though he doesn't get much screen time for the bulk of the episode.
Donal Logue will be playing the part of Harvey Bullock, while Jada Pinkett Smith plays crime boss Fish Mooney. Aside from Mooney, the show will feature a lot of typical Batman villain references. Expect to see Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin) and Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, the future Riddler who is currently working as a forensic scientist for the Gotham police. Other villains who will make an appearance in the first season are Selena Kyle (aka Catwoman) to be played by Camren Bicondova, and a very young Ivy Pepper (Poison Ivy) played by Clare Foley.
'Gotham' will air on FOX on Mondays at 8/7c. Keep vigilant for more developments on this story as FOX has yet to announce the show's official premiere date.
