Google Nexus 8 Release Date: Expected June 25 at 2014 I/O Conference
Google is reported to have completed the Isotesting phase for its Nexus 8 and in all likelihood the latest tablet will be released on June 25.
Latest rumors claimed that Google will now undertake a fresh round of testing of the 8-inch tablet, in preparation for its impending launch. There is further speculation that the new device will possibly be launched at the company's upcoming I/O conference scheduled for June 25.
In fact, Myce, a tech website, was the first to notice and report that Google's website that focuses on tracking bugs in Chromium (Chrome browser) hinted that the Mountain View-headquartered tech titan is currently working on several features, products as well as services, counting the rumored Nexus 8 tablet.
A report in CNET said that although not much detail have been divulged in the listing, Myce noticed a message at the bottom of the page on Google's above-mentioned website that read "google/volantis/flounder" under the builder fingerprint. It is believed that the code name "flounder" hints to the fact that the company is currently testing a Nexus device.
An earlier report claimed that "flounder" is the code name for the forthcoming Nexus 8 tablet. In fact, also previously Google code named its products using names of sea creatures. For instance, Nexus 5 was code named "hammerhead," while Nexus 10 was nicknamed "manta."
According to early rumors, Google is likely to replace the old Nexus 7 line of products, which were announced at the I/O trade show and launched in July, with the Nexus 8.
Latest reports suggest that the company is also working on a new project called "Project Tango" - a 7-inch tablet that will sport a similar 3D image capture tool. It was speculated that this device was scheduled for an earlier launch and it was being developed to replace the Nexus line with Android Silver program.
