Google Nexus 6 Release Date: Previous Launch Dates Suggest Latest Model Unveils in October

Although Google has yet to confirm the release date of Nexus 6, also known as Motorola Shamu or Nexus X, it is being speculated that the device will arrive together with Android 5.0 L sometime later this year. Some have even forecast that the Nexus 6 may arrive much earlier- in late October.

As of now, it is believed that the new phone will be called the Nexus 6. However, it is also being thought that some legal issues may force Google to name the device Nexus X instead. So, Google fans and other tech enthusiasts will have to wait a bit before the official name is confirmed.

As the launch date of Nexus 6 is drawing close, more and more leaks are flooding the Internet allowing fans to get a clearer picture of what the phone may have to offer. However, everything is in the rumor stage right now, and nothing can be said for certain.

A recent reportby the Wall Street Journal said that Google's new 5.9-inch Nexus 6 will launch this month. In all probability, the phone is being manufactured by Motorola. Quoting sources, the report further said that the Nexus 6 will chip away at rival handsets such as the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. The Nexus 6 is also expected to launch alongside Android L, the report claimed.

Earlier rumors hinted that the Nexus 6 will be announced on Oct. 15, but possibly Oct. 16. Some unreliable sources told Android Authority that Google will unveil the Nexus 8 or Nexus 9 and the Nexus 6 together on either of these two dates.

However, this only seems to be a rumor because, as of now, Google has not made any official announcement regarding the release date of the much-anticipated Nexus 6.

Apart from of that, it now seems that an October launch is certain, while the phone is likely to go on sale in November. In case we go by the previous Nexus launches, this should not come as a surprise.

For instance, the Nexus 4 was announced in October 2012 and came out in November, while the Nexus 5 was announced in October 2013 and was available to the customers a month later.
