Google Nexus 5 (2015) Update: New Report Claims LG Electronics to Make Google’s New Handset

A new report has confirmed that Google will be teaming up with LG Electronics for manufacturing its upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) smartphone, also known as Nexus second generation. This reports corroborated previous reports speculating that the search engine giant may collaborate with the South Korean tech titan, which also made the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, for its upcoming handset.

According to IB Times, though LG Electronics will be manufacturing the Google Nexus 5 (2015), it will not be based on the LG G4. AndroidPIT claims that a unnamed source told them that instead the new smartphone will be based on a yet to be released model.

Earlier, Android Police reported that Google may possibly launch two Nexus devices. One of these devices, code named "LG Bullhead," would be made by LG (which is thought to be the Nexus 5 second generation), while another code named "Huawei Angler" would be built by Huawei.

On the other hand, the most recent claim that the upcoming Nexus smartphone will not be rooted in the LG G4 may surprise many, since the manufacturers usually make handsets for Google derived from their current flagship devices.

In addition, there are contradictory reports regarding the release date of the Google Nexus 5 (2015). A report in Geek Snack claimed that the device may possibly be launched alongside Google's latest mobile operating system Android M in August. On the other hand, earlier reports claimed that Nexus 5 (2015) may arrive in October or November.

In fact, an early launch of Nexus 5 (2015) will come as a surprise to many, since Google has been traditionally releasing its Nexus devices together with its new operating system in the fourth quarter.

As of now, Google is silent on the features of its upcoming smartphone. However, several reports have claimed that the device may feature a 5.2-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 pixels, be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and run on Android M. In addition, it is expected that the device will come packed with a 3 GB RAM, have a 13 megapixel primary rear camera, alongside 2 megapixel front snapper, in addition to accommodating a 2700 mAh battery.

Geek Snack also reported that the Nexus 5 (2015) may possibly come with an affordable price tag below $500.

It is worth mentioning here that the 16 GB version of Nexus 5 (2013) was priced at $350, while the 16GB variant carried a price tag of $400, prior to its discontinuation a few months ago.
