Google Maps V9.2 Update Details: Voice Control, Better Autocorrect, New Features

Google has just introduced its latest update to Google Maps with version 9.2, which comes with new navigation features, voice control, a tilt view for the maps, and much more.

The Google Maps team already introduced the Material makeover last month, but now they decided to roll out one more update before the year ends with the version 9.2 of Google Maps. The changes are subtle though, but they might still prove helpful to users who need them and know how to look for them.

By checking out the settings page, users will be able to re-calibrate their phone to allow for more accurate map viewing, as well as the added feature of being able to change the volume of the phone's voice instructions. There are no specific volume levels indicated though, but the sounds can still be turned softer or louder if the user wants.

Changes have also been made to the autocorrect feature, making it smarter with its suggestions and showing popup alerts when words have been changed.

Other changes include regular bug fixes, being able to see one's Google contacts when looking for addresses, a new filter capability where users can search for restaurants by cuisine type and listing pages for business owners.

The new update also added the tilt feature, which gives users a choice between viewing maps at an angled view or with the default top-down look.

The app can also now detect when the calibration is off with the phone's built-in compass and will instruct the user to recalibrate it. A notification will pop up asking users to wave their phones back and forth, left to right or right to left in order to do this.

The update for the Google Maps app is now available on Google Play Store and is ready for users to try.
