Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers Game 4 Live Stream Free, Preview: Watch NBA Playoffs Online
Through three games in the Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers have stumped the league's prettiest and most proficient offense. The Golden State Warriors were held to under 60 points through three quarters for just the second time all season in Game 3. The other time? Game 2.
That stat speaks of how much these grit squad Cavs have impacted the way the Warriors play on offense. During a quarter break interview, Cavs coach David Blatt said they're just trying to make everything hard for the Dubs, nothing overcomplicated, when asked about the defense they've been playing.
Overnight Cleveland folk hero Matthew Dellavedova has been in league MVP Steph Curry's jersey since taking injured Kyrie Irving's place. Timofey Mozgov has provided the sort of rim protection that has left the discombobulated Warriors leaving their hopes on their contested jump shots. And Tristan Thompson's rebounding has not allowed Draymond Green to kick-start the Warriors' offense by pushing it out on the break.
The Warriors' starting frontcourt of Green and Andrew Bogut has been so outplayed, that Warriors coach Steve Kerr had to dust off David Lee just to try anything against the Cavs' tenacious defense.
By now, Kerr must realize that what they're doing on offense just won't cut it. They have to make it easier for both Curry and Klay Thompson to get the looks they need. Cleveland has done a marvelous job at trapping the pick and roll and making whoever gets the pass from Curry to make the play. Green used to be great at taking advantage of the four-on-three opportunities that stem from trapping Curry of the pick and roll, but he has not been able to finish inside off those situations, and he has been way too hesitant in shooting the three.
Save for the overtime period of Game 1, the Cavs have imposed the pace of the game mainly through the brilliance of LeBron James. If the Warriors don't try something different in Game 4, this series could be over in a hurry.
