'God's Not Dead' Movie Helps Newsboys' Hit Single to Reach Over 500,000 Songs Sold; Group Joins Elite List of Christian Artists with Gold Record

Newsboys' "God's Not Dead (Like A Lion)" single, from their album of the same name was just certified GOLD by the RIAA as it has sold more than 140,000 tracks since January.

"God's Not Dead (Like A Lion)" had a huge resurgence thanks to the "GOD'S NOT DEAD" movie, and the Newsboys' performance of the song in it.

"God's Not Dead (Like A Lion)" was a No. 1 radio hit on the Billboard AC Monitored chart in 2012 and was the top selling track off of the album. The movie helped the song push past the 500,000 certified sales mark.

The song is now included among artists such as Bob Carlisle, Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Skillet, and Switchfoot as Christian artists to reach that mark.

"Inpop Records is so grateful for the spotlight given to our music because of the GOD'S NOT DEAD movie. In particular, Newsboys' God's Not Dead project and single have found an expanded audience thanks to the film's massive exposure," Mark Lusk, president/general manager for Inpop Records said in a press release.

The God's Not Dead-The Motion Picture Soundtrack, which was on released March 4, and has held a Top 10 position on iTunes' Top Soundtracks chart. The soundtrack has also produced a No. 1 radio single with Shane Harper's "Hold You Up."
