'Glee' Lea Michele Interview Sharing on Tribute Episode for Cory Monteith and Speaking Publicly About His Death for First Time (VIDEO)
"Glee" star Lea Michele opens up in an interview with Australia's TV Week for the first time about the death of her co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith.
Monteith, who died of a drug overdose on July at age 31, will get his long awaited tribute episode for character Finn Hudson on "Glee" tomorrow night (Oct. 10).
Michele said that the tribute episode titled "The Quarterback" turned out 'perfect'. "I haven't seen it (the full episode) yet, but we did it because it was something we all needed to do together."
When asked about Lea possibly leaving the show, she said, "I feel like, for me personally, I've lost two people: Cory and Finn. Everyone is asking: 'Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?', but the truth is it's no harder at work than it is in life so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together". She added, "We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic."
"Glee"co-creator Ryan Murphy said that he spoke with Lea Michele while writing the tribute episode, "The Quarterback," for Monteith and his character, Finn Hudson. A source told US, "Lea wants it to reflect the truth, to warn people what can happen." So that could be a sign that Finn Hudson's character dies of a drug overdose as well, we will find out tomorrow.
The filming the memorial episode was "very rough" for Michele, as well as the rest of the cast.
"Almost everything in that episode is from the first take of every performance, because the actors and the crew had a really hard time shooting it," he said. "I've never seen a crew where you can't continue shooting because they left the room sobbing."
"She talks about Cory constantly," a source says of Michele. "She tries to remember the good times."
Lea also shared this when asked how she would like Cory to be remembered, "I really woke up every single day feeling like I was being in some sort of spell or something, that I was lucky enough to have him in my life." She added, "There was no greater man than Cory, so for the time we spent together I consider myself very lucky."
The "Glee" Season 5, Episode 3 tribute 'The Quarterback' for Cory Monteith/Finn Hudson airs tomorrow night at 9/8 Cst on FOX.
