Glastonbury 2013: Rolling Stones Record Setting Debut / Mumford & Sons Close Out Festival Singing w/ Vampire Weekend
Great weather and an even better lineup of musicians made Glastonbury 2013 one of the best in recent years. British rock icons, the Rolling Stones made their highly anticipated Glastonbury debut this year.
"After all these years they've finally got around to asking us," said Mick Jagger.
Over 100,000 fans [Glastonbury record] gathered around the Pyramid main stage to rock out to Stones classics like "Gimme Shelter" and "Pain It Black".
Leave it to the Rolling Stones to cause a fuss.
After missing Bonnaroo 2013 because of brain clot found in their bass guitarist, Mumford and Sons provided their countrymen with some rousing barnyard anthems.
Former Oasis bad boy bro Liam Gallagher gave Brits his usual brand of cocky working class snot, and narcotics induced ego in his new band Beady Eye. Needless to say Glastonbury fans ate it up. Still, it's sad. I feel the only reason Glastonbury asks him back is to reprise old Oasis songs like "Morning Glory" and "Rock n' Roll Star".
Newcomers Alt-J played some tunes off their meteoric 2012 album, An Awesome Wave.
Awesome performances from Vampire Weekend, Editors, Cat Power and Mumford & Sons closed the final day of Glastonbury 2013. Mumford & Sons closed out the pyramid stage with classics from their first two albums. In true bonfire fashion, Mumford even invited friends from Vampire Weekend, Vaccines and Staves for a ceremonial rendition of "With a Little Help From My Friends" by the Beatles.
