Girls’ Generation News: Jessica Jung Leaves K-Pop Group To Focus On Fashion Line
Conflicting reports have emerged saying Jessica Jung has either been dismissed from Girls' Generation or has decided to leave on her own accord. Apparently, Jung preferred to run her own business instead of working with the K-pop group.
After Jessica Jung's exit from Girls' Generation on Tuesday, the remaining members of the all-girl Korean pop band are said to be facing their toughest time since they debuted 2007.
Jung, through her Weibo account, claimed that she was unfairly dismissed from the group by her company, SM Entertainment, without any warning.
Fans of the group were alarmed with her Weibo story after it went viral. Some speculated her account may have just been hacked.
SM Entertainment confirmed the report a few hours later, stating that Jung would no longer be part of the band because of a clash in priorities. SM pointed out that Jung's attention was divided between her fashion business and the schedules of the group.
In a statement released to Asiaone Entertainment, the group's leader, Taeyeon, said that "From the start, we've only wanted to protect Girls' Generation. We're sorry. Please believe in us one more time,"
During the Girls' Generation fan meet Tuesday in Shenzhen, China, the group's youngest member, 23-year-old Seohyun, could not hold back her tears. The other members of the team were also emotional.
Aside from her supposed preoccupation with her business, there are speculations that Jung is marrying American-Korean financial and entertainment mogul, Tyler Kwon, which added to her inability to attend to the group's commitments, a report by Soompi read.
As it stands, Jung is silent about the marriage rumors.
She said that SM Entertainment had originally given her the permission to launch her fashion line, "Blanc," and sent out insinuations that some people may have just tried to change the company's decision,
"However, in early September, after only a month since the launching, the members suddenly changed their position and held a meeting, and told me to either quit my business or leave Girls' Generation without any justifiable reason," Jung said.
While SM entertainment decided to remove Jung from the group, it was Jung who first expressed her wish to leave the band, according to the Inquirer.
