Girl Meets World Release Date, Spoilers: Original 'Boy Meets World' Cast Reunite (TRAILER VIDEO)
Thousands of "Boy Meets World" fans are eager to see what will happen to Cory and Topanga Matthews family when their pre-teen daughter Riley takes center stage in the upcoming spinoff to the hit TGIF sitcom "Girl Meets World."
The new Disney Channel show picks up years after where the critically acclaimed 1990's ABC comedy show ended, Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) now have two children: Riley (the lead protagonist played by Rowan Blanchard) and her little brother Auggie (August Maturo).
Like her dad in the original series, she is also trying to adjust to life now that she going to middle school and learning many life lessons from her history teacher.
However, unlike "Boy Meets World," her history teacher will not be the stern but fair Mr. [George] Feeny (played by Knight Rider star William Daniels), instead it will be her dad Cory following after his mentor's big footsteps. Mr. Feeny is expected to make at least a cameo appearance in the upcoming series.
Along, with Mr. Feeny, other characters from the past will reprise their roles in the new series in most likely a special guest appearance role including Cory's best friend Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), Cory's parents (Alan William Russ) and Amy (Betsy Randle) Matthews, Cory's former classmate Minkus (Lee Norris) and even Cory's former high school bully Harvey "Harley" Keiner (Danny McNulty) who is now a janitor in the new series.
"Boy Meets World" dominated the Friday time slot during ABC network's TGIF era from 1993-2000. Despite the fact the show ended in 14 years ago, it still has a strong following with fans of all ages today thanks to the show being syndicated on various networks. In addition, because of the show's success, the complete past series was recently released on DVD in November 2013.
"Girl Meets World" will air at 9:45 p.m. on the Disney Channel on Friday, June 27, 2014.
