Gina Carano vs Ronda Rousey UFC Fight December 2014? Set Up as Biggest Women’s MMA Fight Ever
Reports have been claiming that Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey could fight each other in the women's mixed martial arts (MMA) in December of this year. Additionally, some reports have said that the possibly upcoming event could be the biggest women's MMA fight ever.
It has been reported that Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), is positive that she would be able to sign Carano to UFC and possibly set up her first fight against Rousey in December. Fox Sports reports that in a recent interview in Ireland, White revealed that she has been working to complete Carano's deal with UFC by the end of next week.
White said, "Next week, I have a meeting with her on Monday," adding, "Pretty confident (we'll sign her)."
While White appears to be ready to ink a deal with Carano, Hollywood is also said to be determined to not let Carano go that easily. In a recent post, Jeremy Botter, Bleacher Report's MMA writer, wrote on Twitter that Hollywood is somewhat uneasy about Carano joining the UFC. According to Botter, if Carano loses in UFC it would tarnish her Hollywood career that took five years to make.
"Signing Gina to UFC was not as easy as White put it," he tweeted, adding, "Studio worried that losing to Ronda will hurt Gina's action hero allure, and yeah, it would."
Meanwhile, Give Me Sport's Bradley Taylor wrote that there is a possibility that Carano would lose to Rousey if the two fighters ever face off in the octagon, as she has not fought since 2009 after losing to Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino.
The main question now is whether White will really succeed in signing Carano. Although she has said she can and will, an obstacle remains with Carano, who had earlier said that she will only sign with UFC "if the circumstances were right."
There is no doubt that Carano vs Rousey would be one of the biggest fights in the history of women's MMA in UFC. Both fighters would earn a hefty amount of money out of it too.
