'Ghostbusters 3' Movie Release Date, Cast News: Director Paul Feig Confirms All-Female Lead Roles
In latest 'Ghostbusters 3' news, film director Paul Feig finally addressed the rumors regarding the all-female cast in a recent message on social media.
"It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call," wrote Feig on Twitter.
Before Feig officially confirmed the all-female Ghostbusters cast, several actresses that worked with the 'Bridesmaids' director have been linked to star in the upcoming film such as 'Mike and Molly' actress Melissa McCarthy.
"I think that somebody is really trying to do it, but nobody has talked to me about it," said McCarthy to the Toronto Star, "Listen, if the people I think are doing it are doing it, I must never question them."
The 44-year-old Plainfield, Illinois native further expressed her views about appearing in the forthcoming movie.
"Oh, my God, that's daunting. That's taking on a legend, a legendary movie. But I would do anything with those ladies, anything at all," said McCarthy in reference to the rumored all-female cast who will potentially battle ghosts, demons and other monsters on the streets of New York City.
McCarthy's 'Bridesmaids' co-star Kristen Wiig also addressed the rumors regarding her possible involvement in the film after 'Ghostbusters' legend Bill Murray publically endorsed her and McCarthy as the next stars in the upcoming movie.
"That's very flattering. I guess they're making one from what I hear, which is pretty great," said Wiig, according to a Yahoo report last month.
"I will do whatever Bill Murray tells me to."
The 'Ghostbuster 3' film is expected to begin filming next year, and so far, there is no official announcement regarding the release date.
