Ghostbusters 3 Movie Release Date, Cast News, Rumors: Dan Akyroyd Talks Jason Statham in Upcoming Film
In latest 'Ghostbusters 3' news, film legend Dan Akyroyd expressed his thoughts in a recent interview regarding Jason Statham's involvement in the popular movie franchise.
"There is so much talent coming out of the UK but I would love to see Jason Statham as a Ghostbuster in some capacity. He's a lot of fun," said Aykroyd to London Go.
The 62-year-old Canadian actor also revealed the current status of future science fiction comedy film.
"I think the attitude now is right, it's just taken a while to get here. We're 100% assured that there will be another movie within the next two years," said Aykroyd.
The longtime 'Ghostbusters' writer and actor also hinted that the movie's setting might not be in New York City, unlike the two previous films.
"I think that that's a big part of what we would think about in the future, that it's an international thing. It would be rich to do something here in the UK because there're so many possibilities," said Aykroyd.
"There are so many great locations here and... in fact true spirits here that are living right now amongst us."
Aykroyd is best known for playing the very popular Dr. Raymond Stantz in the 1980's cinema classic, he will reprise his role in the forthcoming film.
Aykroyd also revealed his plans regarding the future of the 'Ghostbusters' franchises beyond the third film.
"It's beyond just another sequel, a prequel, another TV show. I'm thinking what does the whole brand mean to Sony? What does Pixar and Star Wars mean to Disney? What does Marvel mean to Fox? The executives, the creatives, Ivan [Reitman] and myself - we're now looking at the next 10 years," said Aykroyd, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It's up on blocks, it needs new electronics, new everything. That's what we have to do. The whole vehicle of Ghostbusters has to be rebuilt. That's the ambitious thinking that's going on now. Taking on the model of Marvel where we take all of the elements that are in this movie and we put them out there as different ideas."
The 'Ghostbuster 3' film is expected to begin filming next year, so far there is no official announcement regarding the release date.
