Ghostbusters 3 Movie Release Date, Cast News: Bill Murray Talks Rumors of All-Female Leads

In latest 'Ghostbusters 3' news, legendary actor Bill Murray expressed his thoughts in a recent interview about the future of the popular movie franchise regarding the rumored all-female cast.

"It sounds great to me. It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it's a grand idea, I don't know who they're talking about, but it's a good idea, I would watch it," said Murray in an interview, according to the Schmoes Know report.

The 63-year-old Illinois native further expressed his excitement regarding the possible all-women cast in latest installment of the original film that debuted in movie theaters 30 years ago.

"I mean, I love Robert Palmer's videos, so why wouldn't I love the female Ghostbusters," said Murray.

Murray previously explained in another interview why he probably would not reprise his role in the third film, which stars his former 'Ghostbusters' co-stars Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver and Ernie Hudson, in addition to some brand new cast members.

"Oh, that I'm not in a rush to do the Ghostbusters movie? We made the first Ghostbusters - it was one of the great movies, one of the great entertainments of all time. Then we made a second one; it was okay, right? So what are we going to do? Are we going to rush to make a third one? It would be great if you could make one that was as good as the first one," said Murray to Dazed Digital in March 2014.

"It would probably be good if you could make one that was as good as the second one. But, you know, there was The Godfather. Then there was The Godfather II. And then there was The Godfather III... The franchise is fantastic. But I find that you don't really lose by saying no in show business. If you say no, sometimes they come back with a better script. Or sometimes it just goes away. But I don't know. Are you thinking of going back to high school?,"

There are prevalent reports that claim Murray's current 'St. Vincent' movie co-star Melissa McCarthy will star as the lead character, that is expected to be similar to Murray's portrayal as Dr. Peter Venkman in the first two 'Ghostbusters' films in 1984 and 1989.

The film is reportedly directed by Paul Feig of 'Bridesmaids' (which starred McCarthy) and 'Freaks and Geeks' fame, according to numerous reports.

McCarthy will team up with Feig once again when she plays secret agent Susan Cooper in the upcoming 'Spy' film, which is expected to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2015 by 20th Century Fox.

The rumor linking Feig at the helm of the forthcoming 'Ghostbusters 3' has not been confirmed or denied by Sony Pictures as of yet.

The 'Ghostbuster 3' film is expected to begin filming next year, so far there is no official announcement regarding the release date.
