Massive George Jones Tribute Event Held in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday

George Jones may be gone but he is certainly not forgotten. Over 100 major music acts turned up to pay tribute to the late, great George Jones in Nashville, TN on Sunday. The event was held at Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville and featured the likes of Garth Brooks, Kid Rock, Megadeth, and others.

The show was originally going to be George Jones' last show, but all that changed when the star died in April at age 81. The show went on without Jones, however, and took shape as a different kind of concert entirely. Jones' long time backing band, the Jones Boys, were the house band for the night as artists came onstage to perform Jones' hits to a sold out crowd.

Some singers that came onstage for a performance were Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, and Styx's Tommy Shaw. One of the more memorable moments of the night was the opening song featuring Big and Rich. The duo rode John Deere tractors out onto the stage in a nod to Jones' drunk driving incident in which he was arrested for driving a lawn mower into a liquor store.

Paisley told the crowd, "No one was more generous to me than George Jones. I know he's looking down at this and saying, 'Son, where's all the money going for this?'" Paisley followed this comment with a cover of Jones' song "The One I Loved Back Then" and added his famous quick guitar licks.
