‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Series Renewal, Cast Returns for Bigger - More Money Contracts
Although Season 5 of the hit HBO series 'Game of Thrones' is still filming, rumors are spreading that Season 7 of the show has already been confirmed.
The George R.R. Martin inspired medieval fantasy series was given a green light from HBO for its fifth and sixth seasons back in April. Now, the same can be said for Season 7, as many actors and actresses in the series have updated their contracts.
While the network didn't reveal any special plans for 'Game of Thrones' Season 7, reports are claiming that it's going to be record-breaking in terms of viewership and ratings.
Furthermore, the cast were rumored to have also been given huge raises for the upcoming seasons of the series (five, six, and a season seven) that will place them among some of the highest-paid actors on Cable TV.
According to the report, 'Game of Thrones' pays its actors using a "tiered system."
Those on the "A" tier include series mainstays Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister).
The "B" tier includes Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).
Meanwhile, the rest of the actors were said to have much smaller pay raises.
'Game of Thrones' received a whopping 7.1 million views during its fourth season finale and has been HBO's biggest and most successful series to date.
Season 4 of 'Game of Thrones' took the title from HBO's 'Sopranos' series as the most watched series of all-time based on average gross viewership.
The series was also nominated 19 times for several Emmys including best drama writing, best drama series, best supporting actor (Dinklage) and actress (Headey).
