'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Speculations: How Will Myrcella’s Death Affect Series Plot Next Season?
In the recently concluded 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 fans witnessed two shocking deaths. Apart from Shireen's burning, they also saw Myrcella passing away.
According to IB Times, just before she died, Myrcella and her father had a poignant moment. In fact, actor Nikolak Coster-Waldau admitted that the death of his daughter evoked plenty of emotions, which he did not realize he had. Winter is Coming speculates that such emotions may eventually provoke the Crown and Jaime to launch an attack on Dorne.
Meanwhile, showrunner Dan Weiss is of the view that even Myrcella's mother Cersei will not be in a frame of mind to sit and scrutinize whose fault led to her daughter's death. In its place, Cersei's foremost feeling would be revenge. Moreover, she would be blaming everyone from the Sand Snakes to Tyrion for her daughter's death.
Recently Weiss told Entertainment Weekly, "I don't think Cersei is going to be particularly interested in whose fault it was that this happened to her daughter-it happened in Dorne. She might be in a more bellicose frame of mind than usual when she finds out."
In addition, possibilities are high that Cersei would put the blame for Myrcella's death on Tyrion, since he was responsible for sending her to Dorne.
At the same time, 'Game of Thrones' executive producer David Benoiff said, "In her mind, Myrcella was taken away from her by Tyrion; she still blames him for Joffrey's death, and he is directly responsible for Myrcella going to Dorne. So in her worldview, both of her children's deaths are to be laid at his doorstep. This is one more thing to motivate her homicidal hatred of him."
However, now it remains to be seen if Cersei actually possesses the power to declare war on Dorne, as it is expected that the kingdom will feature heavily in the 'Game of Thrones' Season 6, which is based on George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series.
This was hinted by Jessica Henwick, who portrays the character of Nymeria Sand in the TV series on HBO. In an interview with Yahoo!, Henwick said that the events of the finale would actually set "the rest of the show on a very certain path. It's a big move in Game of Thrones, and the Sand Snakes are a part of it."
Meanwhile, check out the official trailer of the U.K. version of the 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 (2016).
